iMED

iMED is a temporary (3 months, or one full term for one-term exchange student) basic health coverage in which international students are automatically enrolled until they can receive MSP coverage (the MSP waiting period is 3 months). iMED covers doctor visits for injury or illness, and hospital visits. A fee of $225 for 3 months or $315 for a one-term exchange is charged to your student account. A coverage card will be e-mailed to you, which you should download, print, and carry with you. If you do not receive a card, contact David Cummings Insurance Services. If any family members are accompanying you, they are not automatically enrolled. You are encouraged by UBC to enrol them. If you already have MSP coverage and do not need iMED, opt out by contacting David Cummings Insurance Services before the add/drop date (typically end of third week of classes).
