The BC Medical Services Plan (MSP) provides basic health insurance. If you will be living in B.C. for more than 6 months, it is strongly recommended that you get MSP coverage as soon as possible, unless you have coverage from another Canadian province or territory. All UBC students are required to have MSP or equivalent medical coverage. There is a three-month waiting period before MSP coverage begins, so apply as early as possible.
