After weeks of intense games, the results for 2022 UBC Chemistry Ping Pong tournament results finally came out. Let’s congratulate Kris, Long and Hassan for winning the first, second and third place!

What is Sock War?
Sock War is a department-wide game of tag involving a clean sock as your “weapon”. Each participant of Sock War will be assigned a target. A target is eliminated by tagging them with a clean sock and the game is continued following a chain structure until one person emerges as the winner. Please review the document attached in this email to read more about the event, how gameplay works, and what to expect once you’ve signed up.
When do we start?
Sock War 2022 will officially start on Tuesday, Feb 15 2022. 8:00am sharp.
What about fees and prices?
This event is FREE and the last person standing will be awarded a $100 gift card of your choice. Open to all Graduate Students, Staff, and Faculty.

Periodic Table Scavenger Hunt
Thanks to all the teams who participated in our inaugural scavenger hunt! It was lots of fun to see everyone identifying the elements in their everyday lives. Congratulations to the winners:

Annual Chemistry Graduate Research Symposium
This year’s symposium is taking on a different format from that of the past!
The symposium will be held virtually next Thursday, October 1, 2020 from 10:00 am to 4:30 pm. We will have a plenary lecture from the department’s very own Dr. Tao Huan, followed by two poster sessions. Join to see the research being conducted in our department!
